Affects of Indefinite banda in Tarai

Lumbini (Rupandehi), Aug. 14: Daily public life has been hit hard in Rupandehi as a result of the indefinite banda called by the Tharuhat Struggle Committee in 22 districts of the Tarai, demanding a separate Tharuhat province.


As a result, the market, transportation service, educational institutions and factories remain completely shut. The daily wage labourers have been severely affected.


Only police van, ambulance and vehicles carrying media persons and essentials like milk are seen plying on the road. Furthermore, many Nepalis returning home after work in neighbouring India have been left stranded unable to reach to their loved ones.

Banda enforcers have gathered in major points including Buddha chowk, Devkota chowk, Milan chowk of Bhairahawa since early morning to make the banda successful. No untoward incident has been reported so far, police said. RSS
